Nearly 900 workers at Tyson Foods plant test positive for coronavirus

Nearly 900 workers at an Indiana Tyson Foods pork processing plant have examined positive for the coronavirus, a study said.

The meat digesting facility in Logansport is a person of several Tyson plants all over the country which may have voluntarily shut due to virus outbreaks.

County officials have been dealing with Tyson, the largest US beef supplier, to develop a reopening plan, as outlined by WISH-TV.

The plan gained steam after President Trump on Tuesday invoked typically the Defense Production Act to requirement meat plants stay open in the course of the pandemic, the report claimed.

The Logansport plant utilizes 2, 200 people � 890, or 40 percent of which will, have tested positive for typically the illness.

“We were in good shape for a couple weeks and then just within the couple weeks it kind of blew up,” Serenity Alter, the health department administrator associated with Cass County, where the Tyson plant is, told the multilevel.

Alter said that since of its high number associated with coronavirus cases, stay-at-home orders within the county should remain within place, despite Gov. Eric Holcomb’s expected plan to gradually lift up restrictions on a regional foundation, the report said.

“With our numbers increasing the way they are, hopefully we will not be one of those regions just quite yet,” Alter said.
