‘Preliminary Talks’ to Shut Down Coronavirus Task Force by Late May
Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday said the White House has been having âpreliminary talksâ about disbanding typically the coronavirus task force by Memorial Day or early June.
Pence spoke about this advancement to a group of reporters, including Breitbart News, at his / her office at the White House.
âI think weâre having conversations about that, and about what the proper time is for the task force to complete its work,â Pence said. âAnd for the ongoing efforts to take place on an agency by agency level.â
Pence declared that typically the White House was discussing a good transition with FEMA and various organizations for a task force yield in late May or beginning June, suggesting that Memorial Day weekend would be a probability.
âIt really is all a reflection of the tremendous progress that weâve made as a country,â he said.
Coronavirus Task Force coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx would remain doing the job at the White House, Pence said.
âWeâre going to keep Dr. Deb Birx around every bit as long as we need to,â Pence mentioned.
Birx said she’d carry on to monitor the trends connected with the virus in the region.
âWeâll still keep a close eye on the data,â Birx said. âBecause we have very good data now, it took us a while to build that capacity and weâll make sure that weâre watching that at a federal level.â
